The first thing to consider before booking a stud service is your dog’s age. She needs to reach sexual maturity before she can safely mate and have puppies. The timing depends on her breed. Smaller dogs usually mature around six to nine months, while larger breeds may take closer to one to two years.

While maturity marks the starting point, it’s best not to rush. We recommend waiting until after your dog’s third heat cycle, which typically falls between 18 months and two years of age. Allowing her to reach this stage gives her body and temperament time to fully develop, making pregnancy safer and more manageable.
